Molly Nilsson in Tbilisi
Molly Nilsson is a Swedish artist, producer, and songwriter based in Berlin since 2005. She began composing in 2007 and self-released her debut album These Things Take Time in 2008. In 2009, she founded her own label Dark Skies Association, and has since released music in collaboration with UK label Night School Records. Known for her steady output—averaging one album per year—she also directs her own music videos.
Nilsson has performed over 500 headline shows across Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Oceania. Her 2015 album Zenith received critical acclaim, was re-pressed three times, and was nominated for Best Pop Album at the Manifest Music Awards. She has played major festivals like London’s Field Day Festival (2016), and toured with MGMT in 2018. Her song “I Hope You Die” has over 7 million views on YouTube, and her music is regularly featured on international radio stations such as BBC, NPR, and KCRW.
Her latest album Extreme (2022) was followed by European and US tours, was ranked #10 on Fader’s Best Albums of the Year list, and the single Pompeii was named Best New Music by NPR. That same year, she received a songwriting award from the Swedish Composers and Lyricists Organization. In 2024, she was awarded the Villa Aurora residency in Los Angeles, where she recorded the conceptual album Un-American Activities. She is currently working on her 12th full-length album.
